No sympathy for the masses - 10:03 p.m. EST

sergeiAfter far too long of a time, I heard from my friend Sergei Rukavishnikov. So many humans dissapoint me, which is why I feel so honored to know Sergei. This man produces some of the best art I've ever seen. I love his work, so I feel I should share it with as many people as possible. I am setting up a mirror for his work here on Evil Mecca so his pieces can be maintained for as long as the internet holds up. Until I have the mirror set up, I am giving you all a little taste of some exclusive works of his right here.

it's all downhill from here - 3:46 p.m. EST

bonghits4jesusDid you have a happy 4/20? If you stayed home from, school, work, or had a kid who did they or you may have some form of a substance dependancy. Me personally I don't do any illegal drugs, but I don't care if you do. I'm for the legalization of pretty much everything, and then only going after those who can't handle their substances. But in a country where you can own as many fucking guns as you want, it's ridiculous to think that the government wants to regulate what you can or can't do with your own goddamn body. I mean seriously, the NRA says it's a god given right for you to have a gun, but then the government tells you what you can or can't do to yourself? That's mixed up if you ask me. That's the Christian God for you tho... mixed signals.

My sympathys go out to the NASA hostage family, as well as all of the Virginia tech victims, survivors and familys. In a rush to figure out what's going on with the kids, it really boils down to this... there really is no way to to tell who's gonna snap in the end. Sure you get warning signs and such, but in the end, you just can't tell. I'm just lucky I graduated from high school before columbine. I love violent entertainment, drew a lot of messed up stuff, wrote a lot of messed up stuff, and was bullied a hell of a lot. Had I still been in school, they would've yanked me outta class so fast my head would've spun. And yeah, I hated my tormentors, but in the end I knew school would be over soon, and they'd be stuck in the shit hole town, and I would escape to bigger and better things. Well, at least I got outta town. Anyway, my point is, don't blame the entertainment, or even all the weird kids in school, try to accept each others eccentricities, and don't sell guns to mental patients.

Year Zero from NIN has turned out to be the most exciting thing to hit music in YEARS. The music is awesome, but aside form that, the concept surrounding it is blowing my mind. It's set a few years in the future when we finally give up all our rights and the government rules us with an iron fist, loosely. There is too much for me to write on here, so check the NIN Hotline, they are keeping tabs on all the goings on, so check them out for all the current news on Year Zero.

In a suprise turn of events, the pope declaired Limbo to be non-existant. I thought they already abolished Limbo, apparently only now are they making it official. So now unbaptized babies are going to heaven apparently. There are plenty of people that still believe in Limbo, but then again, some folks still think God sent angels to New Orleans to punish the wicked. The pope could declare the Ford Pinto to be the holiest of all cars created, and I still wouldn't give a shit. It's just good to know some things are too stupid, even for the Catholic church.

Just for the record I want to state, for Holywood's sake, that Galactus is NOT a cloud. I don't have high hopes for much any comic book movie before it comes out. Fantastic Four 2 is no exception.

You say tomato... - 7:36 p.m. EST

I trust you all had a productive Friday the 13th. It just doesn't seem to hold the same mystery that it used to, but none the less, I'll take oddities as I can get them. We'll have another in July, so start planning now.

killwhiteyIncase you were lucky enough to miss all of the hoopla around the most recent celebrity speech blunder, Don Imus recently called the Rutgers basketball team some nappy headed hos. Then later on during his conversation with his radio personality he likened the match to Spike Lee's movie "School Daze" with the Jigaboo's and the Wanna-be's. So yeah, it was a bit uncalled for, and that probably wasn't the time to say that kinda shit. Then he apologized for it. Enter Al Sharpton, the biggest oppertunist you're likely to see. He spear headed Imus getting canceled, and wadda ya know? Imus ends up getting canned. Let's get this straight first, I don't like Don Imus, I could give a shit really, but we've got our priorities all mixed up. Imus apologized at least, George Bush hasn't once given any of us apologies for spying on us, or any of the other magnificent fuck ups he's responsible for. Nope, Mr. Sharpton is too busy taking advantage of his race to hit any real issues on the head. Wake up people, while you're all bickering over non issues, the real criminals are robbing you blind, and they don't care WHAT color you are. That's all I'm sayin'.

Fuck the Duke Lacrosse case too. Here's my 2 cents. I don't think they raped the girl. I don't think that they are innocent tho. They did SOMEthing to her and her friend, and were probably engaging in some other shit that night that shouldn't have been going on. But since they were blinded by the trying to stick it to some privileged white kids for messing with a black girl, they missed the boat. I would love to take whitey down people, but we've gotta do better than this.

I think I'm going to put a few of my design ideas into effect and make some t-shirts or something for Evil Mecca. Everyone else has their own clothing line, so why not me? I just need to create something new, I'm feeling stagnate.

V of the cam portal scene has retired. We wish you all the best V. Good luck in your future.

Better left unsaid - 9:37 p.m. EST

vinnlandSo if you're still looking for some baby fat candles, go HERE.

So, I've heard, and digested the new Type O album. Oh boy. I'm so torn on this one. Here's the ultimate nihilist, fuck you buddy, hates everyone, we don't care what you think guy, of course I'm talking about Peter Steele of Type O fame. Turns out he spent some time in jail, and a psych ward (both things we knew from the symphony for the devil DVD extra content), what he didn't tell us was that he rediscovered Catholosicm, and wrote this new album with that crap clowding his mind. A song about ending abortion, REALLY Pete? The music is good throughout, but the lyrics make me wanna hurl. I can listen to maybe 3 songs on this album without wanting to smack Pete. I can't imagine the rest of the band said, okay, let's do this shit without some sort of argument, unless they all just needed a paycheck, which makes me even more sick. That said, I'm holding out hope this is all some big misunderstanding and they're playing another morbid joke on us. I wouldn't put it past 'em. I'm still going to see them live, and hope they let us in on the joke. Please let it be a joke. I haven't been this depressed over an album since Apocolyptica started adding vocals. So, with all this said, I'm gonna go listen to my old Type O albums, and pretend that this was all just a dream, and that Vinnland hasn't been invaded.

staticxI know a lot of you don't like Static-X, and I don't give a fuck really. I've listened to them since day one, and while they had some stumbles along the way, like THIS, and THIS. I think they've reclaimed their sound now that Koichi Fukuda is back in the band. It's some seriously good industrial/machine rock. So try not to lump them in with the retards you see mindlessly wandering out of HotTopic. Their latest album Cannibal is really solid shit. It's definately worth a listen, very heavy and crunchy, for better or worse it isn't quite as programmed sounding. I am just glad the band was able to regain its footing after some awkward steps. This is the follow up Static-X album you've been waiting for people, so if you haven't already, give it a try.

This year still has a TON of shit coming out. Trent beat the pirates by leaking his own album before they did, so if you wanna listen to the new NIN album, "Year Zero" before you buy it, check it out HERE. (It's really high quality by the way) WOW is all I have to say.

Ours lords and masters GWAR have released their new video Eighth Lock from the magnificent Beyond Hell album, watch it HERE.

I'll report on TKK's new album, "The Filthiest Show in Town", once I've had some time to process it.

Until later, I've uploaded some new pics of Winona Ryder. No comments from the peanut gallery please!

How to kill creativity - 4:41 p.m. EST

So did anyone else catch the grammy's this year? Yeah, me neither. Music was really not worth a damn last year. And even if there was something worth a damn it wouldn't get nominated, or win even if it did, so I never watch or listen to that shit really. That said, I DID watch the Oscar's, which is something I actually appreciate, aside from all of the celebrities blowing smoke up one another's asses, it's usually on the money, and worth catching. Pan's Labyrinth, my favorite nominee this year, caught a lot of attention and won it's fair share this year. This was one of those movies that no one you worked with knows what it is until the Oscar's tell them what to watch. It's well worth the price of admission if you haven't caught it already. Scorsese finally won an Oscar for best director, which was well deserved, the fact that you have an Oscar doesn't make you better than the next guy in my opinion. This year also had a song and dance segment finally addressing the fact that comedy movies never will get you an Oscar. Which really isn't fair, because there are a lot of well crafted comedies that will never get the respect they deserve. Shaun of the Dead anyone? So until the next big award ceremonies hit us, don't listen to what they're selling you.

Speaking of crap music, this year looks like we're going to have some good shit coming out. A LOT of it. First off, one of my all time favorites, Type O Negative have an album coming out in less than 2 weeks. They've also got the longest song they've ever done up on the main page of their website for all to hear. Definitely worth a listen. Nine Inch Nails has a new album coming out this year as well. I am as surprised as you are. It's 2 albums within 2 years from Trent, that's gotta be a sign of the apocalypse. "Someone" has been leaving leaked tracks all around lately. A couple of them showed up in the bathrooms of shows on flash drives. Aphex Twin did the same stunt a few years back as well. Smells to me like it's the start of a Toilet2Toilet file sharing network. 16Volt has a new album hitting the shelves as well as Wumpscut. Industrial music is alive and kicking from the sound of things. My Life With The Thrill Kill Kult also go a new joint coming our way! Hey, even the Smashing Pumpkins are putting something out this year. I'll review more as things come out. Now if only people could start putting out videos that were actually worth looking at, but I'm more than happy with what we're getting.

Lots of updating to the left with the links. I'm working on a better script for random cam, so hopefully I won't get bored with it, and actually put that back up. The Random Image generator is back up with the main navigation bar, with lots of new goodies. As if I didn't have to tell you before, this entire site isn't safe for work, so don't go getting your stupid ass into trouble. New cams ahoy! Go submit your own if you haven't already.

More to come, but I'm spent for now. Here, look at Famke Janssen, she has legs working over time.

Beam me Up! - 9:39 p.m. EST

While slightly inebriated one night I got to thinking about Scientology of all things. Seems as if being drunk helps me think about nonsensical shit. ANYWAY. What if I was to start a cult of Xenu? Would that make us Scientology's Satanists? Not that I could do it with a straight face, but it would be interesting to see the firestorm that it would produce. If I did it right I could avoid being sued I believe, because, correct me if I'm wrong here, but I'm not sure that you can be sued on the basis that you're religious beliefs are wrong. If that was the case Christianity could sue everyone who didn't believe that Jesus was the messiah, and adversely all the other Abrahamic religions could sue Christianity FOR believing he was the messiah. It's a prime example of law and religion not mixing. So anyway, keep arguing over that shit if you wanna, I've got too much real living to do to worry about who's got the right idea about who's invisible friends.

Looks as if I was beat the punch on this one.

With that said, we've got our friends the greeks trying to revive their ancient religion. This is pretty significant seeing as how the Greek Orthodox Church got it banned, and apparently still has a MAJOR stick up it's ass about this one. "They are a handful of miserable resuscitators of a degenerate dead religion who wish to return to the monstrous dark delusions of the past," said Father Efstathios Kollas, the President of Greek Clergymen. This coming from a religion who at one point in time considered it heresy to say the Earth revolved around the sun, and of course is giving us such gems, even today, as the earth is only 6000 years old. I wish the Greeks much luck in agitating the hell out of the church.

Since the website for Skinny Puppy has been all sorts of fucked up for the past few weeks, I'll first state that they have a new album, "Mythmaker", out in the wild now. I liked it a lot, not as much as I liked "The Greater Wrong of the Right", but I did like it a lot. It's a bit more of a return to their older style, while still retaining the polish of "TGWOR". In most industrial music circles what I'm about to tell you would get me stoned, but I don't care much for older Skinny Puppy. It's just not my cup of tea. I really like ohGr's solo work, and I like the last 2 SP albums a lot, but other than that, I can take it or leave it. That said, these guys are in fact some of the original industrial music originators, and not to be ignored. On the release date of "Mythmaker" the official Skinny Puppy site was put up for sale. I can't find images of this, but it's true. It seems to be back to it's usual out of date self now tho, so who the hell knows what happened. Pick up the album if you get the chance, it's worth a listen, and given the state of modern music, one of the few things worth the price tag.

The inevitable return - 6:48 p.m. EST

So it would seem after 8 months or so I am able to put something up and start again on ye olde Evil Mecca. I'm not trying to re-invent the wheel or anything here, just smooth the edges on it as always. None the less, I missed having a place to put all of my random ass thoughts that wasn't on some retarded social network. Even online I remain a tad misanthropic and antisocial, although I do enjoy the people watching.

The new year will hopefully hold more potential than the last. I moved, and started a new job, but it felt like a fizzle to me, and seeing as how time is non refundable, the next one needs a little more pop to it. Hopefully using Evil Mecca as a brain dump will help it move along a little better.

So we recently had a holiday. MLK day actually is one of my favorites. This is a day for white supremacists to spout inane shit about MLK that they can't prove, and just read on some website or propaganda leaflet. It is also a day for many people, black AND white, to completely fucking miss the mans point. Numero uno, MLK wasn't a perfect human being, so just accept that and move on. He was still a great man tho. All he wanted was for people to be treated as equal, not get special treatment OR unjust treatment, simply because of the color of their skin. Yes, there are difference in the races, but it doesn't make one better than the other. This also isn't a strictly black and white issue, which people also seem to forget about. All people generally suck, it takes exceptional human beings to rise above the rest and prove themselves. Eventually I hope everyone just fucks everyone else, and we all become a nice race of cream colored people. I still believe in MLKs dream, but I think a lot of people are misinterpreting it, and turning it into a nightmare.

On a side note, everything looks like ass in IE7, this site is no exception. If you value the quality of your web browsing experience, PLEASE switch over to Firefox, and stop feeding the beast. Thank you.
